#NeuroRacism

Join us for a day of learning about the historical impact of racism on neuro-related fields, including a panel with expert speakers. Participate in the discussion by sharing biases you’ve encountered in neuroscience (#NeuroRacism), as well as acknowledging the ways that your own research could perpetuate racism (#NeuroComplicit). Use the hashtags #NeuroRacism and #NeuroComplicit, and tag @BlackInNeuro on Twitter and Instagram so we can amplify your perspective!

NeuroRacism Panel
Tues. July 28 12:30 pm EDT

Featuring Jordan Harrod, Dr. David Augustin Hodge Sr., Dr. Oliver Rollins, Tony Black and Dr. Danielle Doyle
Moderators: Ti’Air Riggins & De-Shaine Murray

This discussion with special guests will serve as an informative space to discuss the historical, present and future ways in which neuroscience can actively or passively discriminate against Black people. From bioethics to AI, the importance of critiquing and assessing scientific advancements and technological innovation and how they can/have been weaponised against Black people will be stressed.

NeuroRacism Journal Club Discussion
Tues. July 28 5 pm EDT

Hosted by: D’Angela Pritchett-Rowe, Thiago Arzua, Clíona Kelly, De-Shaine Murray & Ti’Air Riggins

This will be a casual discussion where the hosts dissect journal articles from neurology, neuroengineering and neuroscience. You'll get a first hand view of how to look through papers, assess their strengths, limitations but also their wider scope, all in a fun, interactive environment.

Don’t worry, you won’t have needed to review the articles intensely before hand!

Download the papers to have them on hand during the discussion:
