  • NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (F31) 

    Support to individuals to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training while conducting dissertation research

  • NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (F31-diversity) 

    Same as F31 above, but also designed to enhance the diversity of the health-related research workforce by supporting the research training of predoctoral students from diverse backgrounds including those from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research workforce

  • NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Predoctoral MD/PhD or Other Dual-Doctoral Degree (F30) 

    To enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists

  • NIH NINDS Postdoctoral NRSA Fellowship (late stage grad students eligible)

    Similar support to Parent F32, but different requirements and eligibility (read carefully). Applicants are eligible to apply within approximately 12 months prior to joining a postdoctoral laboratory to within the first 12 months of starting in that laboratory.

  • NIH Blueprint D-SPAN Award (F99/K00)

    The NIH Blueprint Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award supports the pre- to post-doctoral transition of diverse graduate students

  • NIH Director's Early Independence Award (DP5)

    Supports outstanding junior scientists with the intellect, scientific creativity, drive, and maturity bypass the traditional postdoctoral training period to launch independent research careers

  • NIH Supplements to Promote Diversity in Research and Development Small Businesses-SBIR/STTR

    Administrative supplements to active NIH SBIR/STTR grants to enhance the diversity of the research workforce and increase the participation of women and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in small businesses

  • NIH HEAL Initiative Research Supplements to Promote Diversity

    Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research HEAL grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce

  • NIH Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research

    Administrative supplements to currently active NINDS research AD/ADRD grants to support the training of underrepresented individuals and enhance the diversity of the research workforce

  • NIH Graduate Summer Opportunities to Advance Research (G-SOAR) Program

    Summer research and leadership internship for PhD students and MS graduates entering PhD programs.

  • NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)

    Five-year fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions

  • Ford Foundation

    To increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students

  • Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans

    The PD Soros Fellowship for New Americans is a $90,000 merit-based fellowship exclusively for immigrants and children of immigrants who are pursuing graduate school in the United States

  • HHMI Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study

    To increase the diversity among scientists who are prepared to assume leadership roles in science, particularly as college and university faculty

  • DOD National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG)

    NDSEG Fellowships last for three years and pay for full tuition and all mandatory fees, a monthly stipend, and up to $1,000 a year in medical insurance (this excludes dental and vision insurance)

  • DOD SMART Scholarship Program

    Scholarships are awarded for a minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of 5 years of funding. Must be willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD.

  • 500WomenScientists Fellowship for the Future

    The Fellowship for the Future is a two-year leadership award program for women of color in STEM leading research or outreach projects in line with the 500 Women Scientists mission and focused on increasing equity, inclusion, accessibility, or social justice in STEM

  • Hertz Foundation The Hertz Foundation Fellowship

    The fellowship includes up to five years of funding, valued at up to $250,000, and the freedom to pursue innovative projects wherever they may lead

  • American Heart Association AHA Predoctoral Fellowship

    To enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising students who are matriculated in pre-doctoral or clinical health professional degree training programs and who intend careers as scientists, physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists, or related careers aimed at improving global cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and brain health

  • Facebook The Facebook Fellowship

    Two years of paid tuition and fees, a $42,000 annual stipend to cover living and conference travel costs, a paid visit to Facebook headquarters for the annual Fellowship Summit, and various opportunities to engage with Facebook researchers

  • GEM The GEM Fellowship Program

    The goal of this program is to increase the number of minority students who pursue doctoral degrees in the natural science disciplines — chemistry, physics, earth sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, and computer science. Applicants to this program are accepted as early as their senior undergraduate year, as well as candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s of Engineering program and working professionals.

    Funds research in the natural sciences and promotes academic and professional careers for women in science

  • The Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust

    DeKarman fellowships are open to PhD students in any discipline, including international students, who are currently enrolled in a university located within the United States.

  • PEO P.E.O. Scholar Awards

    The P.E.O. Scholar Awards are one-time, competitive, merit-based awards intended to recognize and encourage academic excellence and achievement by women in doctoral-level programs

  • Point Foundation The Point Scholarship

    Aims to promote change through scholarship funding and mentorship empowering scholars from the LGBTQ+ community

  • Thermofisher Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody Scholarship Program

    Offering $35,000 in scholarship funding in order to provide educational opportunities for future generations of science scholars

  • American Epilepsy Society Predoctoral Research Fellowship

    Support predoctoral students who are pursuing dissertation research with an epilepsy-relevant theme, and who are working under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in epilepsy research. Proposals are welcomed across the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical research.
