Monday: #BlackNeuroRollCall
What better way to kick off #BlackInNeuroWeek than with a #BlackNeuroRollCall!
Hereβs how to participate:
You can eitherβ¦
Share a video in the form of a pop talk on Twitter or Instagram. A pop talk is basically an elevator pitch for your research, medicine, or whatever type of work you do (or hope to do)! Remember, make it short (around 1 minute) and simple, keeping big words and jargon to a minimum. Please try to caption your videos as well, to ensure that folks who are hard of hearing can benefit from your explanation! Clipomatic is a great captioning app for iOs, and AutoCap is great for Android.
To give you an example, check out this pop talk from #BlackInNeuroWeek Organizer, TiβAir Riggins!
Notice how she explains her work in a way that people who are new to the concepts and technology can understand the importance!
OR share a tweet with a selfie, or an instagram post with the following text:
My name is _______________________.
Iβm a __insert field and affiliation here___.
I __briefly describe what you do _______.
We also want to highlight ALL of your intersections, so please add whatever hashtags describe you best, so we can help you find community (#BlackDisabledInNeuro, #BlackQueerInNeuro, #BlackNBInNeuro, etc.).
Finally, make sure to use the hashtags #BlackNeuroRollCall and #BlackInNeuroWeek and tag @BlackInNeuro! When posting images, add alternate text so people who have vision impairments can participate fully in the community!
We canβt wait to introduce you to the world!
